Reasons for runningThe Supreme Court of Ohio is badly out of balance and the way we elect Judges in Ohio makes no sense whatsoever. It is supposed to be a non-partisan office yet there are no elected Democrats on the bench. The seats are purchased for one million dollars apiece and then the Justices sit on the cases of their contributors. It is fundamentally wrong for a Justice on the Ohio Supreme Court to accept a $6,300 contribution from a contributor while they have a matter pending before the Court. Yet that happens daily. It is wrong. I am running to change the way we elect Judges in Ohio.
PrioritiesChange the way we elect Judges in Ohio. Get the money out of the judicial election process.
QualificationsThirty years experience as a lawyer and a Judge. Served as lead counsel in over 100 trials and appeared before seven of the twelve Appellate Districts in Ohio. Appeared before the Supreme Court on multi-million dollar cases and sat on the Supreme Court as a visiting Justice at the invitation of the Chief Justice. As a Court of Appeals Judge for ten years I decided over 3,000 cases and had the privilege of serving as the Presiding Judge for two terms.
Positions on the issuesThe Ohio Supreme Court has failed on numerous occasions in fulfilling its duties to act as a balance to the Ohio General Assembly. The Supreme Court was, and is, wrong in its failure to defend the Ohio Constitution with regard to school funding in Ohio. They have not done their job and soon we will all be paying for that failure.
