Time in areaMechanicsburg is a one traffic light town, 30 miles northwest of Columbus. We've lived there for 12 years. I grew up in Sheffield Lake, about 20 miles west of Cleveland, on Lake Erie. I've lived in Ohio nearly my whole life.
Reasons for runningFederal government has gotten out of hand, and that is the fault of the people. Government of, by, and for the people requires our participation, as candidates and leaders, not simply as voters. What incentive do politicians have to behave constitutionally, if WE don't challenge them when they're not?

I'm challenging them.
Priorities My top priority, demonstrating that ordinary Americans can play a role in our government (because we MUST) will have been accomplished, when the voters give me their permission to go to Washington.

With regard to governance, I'll work to re-establish the sovereignty of the State. That is, after all the role of the US Senate. I'll work to give Ohioans the ability to determine Ohio's future.

With regard to the economy, the most important problem we face is our national debt. We have to reduce it, NOW.
QualificationsThe Constitution places just two qualifications on an individual to be a United States Senator. I must be over 30 years old, and a citizen for more than 9 years. Every other criterion has been placed upon us by politicians, who have demonstrated that "qualifications" do not necessarily translate into good leadership. Constitutionally, I'm qualified.
Positions on the issues JOBS: The most important issue to most Americans is jobs; good paying jobs. Federal government cannot create jobs, but it can stifle job creation. Over regulation has had that effect across America. I'll fight to reduce regulation on small business and make it easier for individuals to start a business. Any effort made by federal government to create jobs results in a net loss of resources among citizens.

ENERGY: Lifting restrictions on domestic energy production will create jobs, lower energy costs, and increase GDP. Increasing GDP is key to reducing our national debt.

NATIONAL DEBT: It's vital that Congress act to reduce our nation's debt. The problem was caused by the actions of both Republicans and Democrats. Consequently, the solutions will too. As a non-party candidate, I can serve as the incentive to both sides of the political aisle to work together to accomplish this. By electing me YOU will be sending a message to all Capitol Hill that it's time to act.

HEALTH CARE: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act must be repealed, because it's a usurpation of individual liberty. Health care costs are high, because federal government has made cash too easily available to physicians for services, and too little available for care. Any product, even health care, is worth what others are willing to pay for it. When the "other" has an unlimited budget, costs will always be high. States may address the issue of publicly funding healthcare, but federal government may not.

There are many more issues addressed on my website,, including the "Meet Scott" video that gives a quick rundown of who I am and why I'm running.
