| Reasons for running | I'm running to restore balance to the Ohio Supreme Court.
During the 25 years I have been involved in public service, I have always put people first. As a judge, I will be impartial and fair. As a lawmaker, my legislative record is an open book. I have been a voice for working and middle class families, high quality education for all children and lower tuition for college students and their families. I voted against Senate Bill 5, the unfair, unsafe law that hurt us all. During my public service, I have supported voting rights, affordable health care and lower prescription drug costs for the elderly. And I have worked for reasonable gas and electric rates, greater consumer protections, the environment and the development of Ohio’s renewable energy resources. |
| Priorities | Restoring balance to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Making sure that everyone has an equal voice before the court. As an attorney, I fought against injustice. As a legislator in the Ohio House and now in the Ohio Senate, I have been a voice against injustice. And as a member of the Ohio Supreme Court, I will stand up against injustice. |
| Qualifications | I have served on numerous committees in the House and Senate, including the Finance committees that write state budgets.
I have been named legislator of the year by groups representing children, pediatrics, mental health and the environment. I have been in private law practice since 1999. For ten years prior, I was a hearing officer for the Ohio Department of Health where I presided over rulings to protect the elderly in nursing homes, the disabled in group homes, improve living conditions for migrant farm workers and ensure the milk supply was sanitary. |
| Positions on the issues | As a candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court, I cannot comment on issues, however, my legislative record outlined above is an open book. |
