Reasons for runningPolititians with no educational knowledge or background are making decisions that are adversely effecting the educational system in Ohio. If Ohio is again going to become a leader in education, we must stop acting like sheep, following the misguided suggestions of profiteers and begin listening to leaders in the field. This will then attract business and industry to Ohio.
Priorities My priorities for Ohio are to promoted educational programs where the monies actually benefit students directly, have evidenciary support, and reduce the number of administrators per student, and to improve the educational success and opportunities for all students beginning with early childhood through successful employment. To collaborate with local communities to increase business and employment in the area.
QualificationsI have over 25 years in education. I have taught in rural, urban, and suburban schools. I have also taught at the university level. As a result of my involvement in educational research, I have presented research on educational issues at national conferences in Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. I also served as a delegate to the International Conference on Education at the State Department in Washington D.C. Locally, I was appointed to the Fairhaven Board of Developmental Disabilities where I served for 7 years. I have also been awarded over $30,000 in grants to develop educational programs that directly improved the educational experience for students in the classroom.
Positions on the issues I believe a strong educational system builds strong communities and better employment opportunities. A strong labor force and union support provide a living wage for Ohioans, healthy and safe working conditions, and reduced need for public assistance. I believe doing what is right always benefits everyone.
