| Reasons for running | I have always believed people are tired of the same old political maneuvering that slows down the government process. I retired last year from my job as Columbiana County Plumbing Inspector. Now with the time to devote to the County Commissioner position, I felt it would give me a chance to prove that politics and common sense do go together and can work. I will always work for what is in the best interest of Columbiana County. |
| Priorities | We need jobs in Columbiana County. The oil boom will bring us work related to drilling in the immediate future. After the surge is over, we need to attract more businesses that will employ our citizens. I want to encourage new companies coming into the county, but I want to be sure we do our due diligence in researching the companies when it comes to our environment - will they be a good neighbor? We do not need any more Nease Chemical, A&L Landfill or situations like those. We must have a better infrastructure to attract more business. This requires more access to water and sewer, and I will work with all government entities to make this possible. |
| Qualifications | I feel my work experience will contribute to my effectiveness in office. After my time in the military, I moved to Lisbon and was owner/operator of two successful local businesses, I served ten years as the Columbiana County Plumbing Inspector, and I am serving in my ninth year as a Center Township Trustee. These jobs all required dealing with state and local government agencies as well as the public. |
| Positions on the issues | One of the current issues is the distribution of the new found casino money made available to the County Commissioners. I would distribute this money to the local governments in the county in the same way the LFG funds were distributed. We were all stretched financially by the cut in LFG money. Replacing the LGF money with the casino money would benefit everyone in a fair manner. After all, we are all in this together.
Another current issue is the hiring of the EMA Director. The Commissioners should look for the most qualified person living within the county. Politics should be left completely out of the equation. |
