Reasons for runningDuring my first term, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to give back to the community on the Boardman Board of Education. I would like to continue the opportunity to serve the community for the next four years and that is why I’ve decided to run for re-election.
Priorities My priorities include:
- Continue to work with our local representatives in Columbus and other school districts on the continuing challenges facing public schools
- Continue on keeping Boardman a fiscally responsible school district while maintaining excellence in Academics, Arts and Athletics
- Continue to make improvements in technology and school safety
QualificationsI’m currently serving as the President of the Boardman Board of Education and during my first term have also served as Vice President and as the Legislative Liaison. I’m actively visible throughout the district attending and participating in school events. Through my job at Case Western, I manage a portfolio of projects related to academic technology which provides insight to how technology is impacting education.
Positions on the issues Privatization of Education –
I would continue the multiple avenues that the Boardman Schools have been doing during my first term in office. We have open and continuing dialogue with our local representatives in Columbus to discuss our issues as well as presenting testimony in Columbus to share our successes and our challenges. We will continue to educate the community about the increasing privatization of education in Ohio and the difficulties it presents to all public schools including Boardman. Lastly, we will continue to work with other districts to analyze and participate in shared services where it makes sense to continue to be fiscally responsible.
