| Reasons for running | I’ve served the citizens of Trumbull County as a Law enforcement officer for over 36 years. In those years I have seen the quality of Services provided by the Sheriff’s Office to the citizens of Trumbull County decline. The standard excuse given for these deficiencies has always been the budget. However I know that with strong progressive leadership and innovative law enforcement methods involving a more efficient use of personnel and resources the services lost can be restored with a more effective law enforcement agency. If elected, I will provide the progressive and innovative type of leadership to the citizens of Trumbull County. |

| Priorities | To restore the Sheriff’s Office to an honest and professional law enforcement agency. Training and education is of the utmost importance and is presently lacking, a properly trained and educated employee is a motivated employee, a motivated and confident officer will better serve the citizens that they protect and the offenders that they guard. Motivation also improves morale among employees, which I believe is at an all-time low. I believe that this training can be provided with no additional strain on the budget by utilizing the experience of senior officers and instructors already working. Better use and scheduling of supervision which will create better communication and a more uniform work force. The main priority, is for the Sheriff’s Office to better serve the citizens, but to do so there cannot be a double standard, the Sheriff must lead by example, with honesty, integrity and professionalism! |

| Qualifications | As a career law enforcement officer of the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office I have worked in every division. Including Jail, Uniform Patrol, Civil Process, Warrants, Investigations, Supervision and Administrative Management. I believe an official should lead by example and not hold others to a standard they are not willing to meet. During my time at the Sheriff’s Office I have worked for 3 elected sheriffs and have gained invaluable leadership experience. I worked my way up to an administrative position by leading by example and that is one of the primary Qualifications I hold, the ability to lead with honesty, integrity and professionalism. |

| Positions on the issues | Our county had experienced an increase in Violent crime, I would use of the sheriff’s personnel more efficiently and effectively to combat violence in our county. I would make assets and resources available to assist the cities and townships in their efforts to reduce and fight crime in their communities. The county Jail possesses the ability to provide intelligence and information vital in the efforts to fight violent crime; this is a resource that has not been properly and effectively utilized. This would include identifying gang members through proper debriefing and documentation of signs and symbols. This is just one example of the resources that are not being properly used. I believe the Sheriff’s Office should become the conduit for the exchange of information between local, state and federal agencies. The most relevant issue is the safety of our citizens and the ability for our youth to grow up without the fear of violence. |
