Reasons for runningAs simple as it sounds, I feel that if someone believes they can make a positive contribution to their community, then that's what they should do. I have called Austintown home for almost my entire life. It's a good community, with good people that deserve to be represented in the most positive and professional way. I spent many years (16) on the Board of Austintown Community Baseball. I currently serve as Director on the Tri-T Pony Baseball Board. I have met hundreds of kids through the years, I want to keep Austintown a place they want to raise their families.
Priorities First and foremost I want to make sure all of our safety forces have what they need and are fully funded, public safety is my number one concern. My priority's also include blight and job creations. Blight is not an easy issue to address. It's something that can't be predicted. You never know when someone will walk away from a home, or close a business.I will also be proactive in making sure we maintain the current enforcement of the zoning laws. Another priority is to make continuous improvements to our Senior Center, and Parks. They provide activity for our youth, as well as our elderly population. These are quality of life issues that are important to Austintown. I will also research ways to attract new business to the Township.
QualificationsI believe my work experience has afforded me the opportunity to learn some very important skill sets that will translate into helping me become an effective Trustee. I am responsible for coordinating large scale million dollar projects from start to a successful completion. I also oversee plant personnel, as well as outside contractors to make sure these projects are completed on schedule. I am not afraid to take responsibility, and I am a excellent decision maker. I feel I make sound decisions not just on current needs, but decisions that will impact the future.
Positions on the issues An important issue to Austintown is the Racino. Growth is good, but it must be managed well, and not stress our infrastructure. It will be critical in the coming years to manage this project, and any other projects, in a way that will not burden our residents, and make sure safety is not jeopardized. I like what the Township has done recently in regard to the joint paving with our neighboring communities, clearly this made good business sense. Going forward, I will research other cost saving opportunities for the residents.
