| Reasons for running | I am running for Congress today for the same reason I first ran for public office over a decade ago – that is, to protect those things that are important to Ohio’s working families and small businesses; and to promote job and manufacturing growth throughout my District. |
|---|
| Priorities | If elected, my first priority will be to help our economy get back on track by helping to create new jobs and protecting the ones we have. Congress can play a big role in supporting the creation and expansion of small businesses. Over 80% of new jobs will come from small businesses, and I will do everything in my power to make sure our people have the resources they need to grow and expand their businesses, and most importantly, to hire. While we prop up our small businesses, we must stop encouraging our big corporations to ship jobs overseas. For starters, we can keep good paying jobs at home by eliminating tax loopholes that encourage shipping jobs overseas. We should also be promoting incentives to increase our manufacturing base right here in the U.S., and in Ohio in particular. |
|---|
| Qualifications | It has been one of the great honors of my life to represent the people of the 6th District. I was born in this area, raised my family here, and ran a successful business right here in Ohio for over 40 years. Each week, when I go to Washington, I take with me the values instilled in me over a lifetime and the lessons that I’ve learned living and working in Ohio.
