|Education||Poland Seminary High School graduate 1984 Youngstown State University (B.S.A.S) graduated 1990 Youngstown State University, Master of Science in Education (MS.ED) 1993|
|Employer||Mahoning County Commissioner (2005 to president). Businessman/self employed.|
|Family in office?||None that I know of.|
|Time in area||My whole life.|
|Reasons for running||Proud of my past accomplishments as Mahoning County Commissioner. Want to continue in my efforts to complete many ongoing and current projects that remain in the 'pipeline.' I have prided myself on the fact that I have been a full-time commissioner, and will continue to be a full-time commissioner! To me, government service has always been about helping people, so it's a passion, not a labor!|
|Priorities||Continue to be a full-time County Commissioner!|
Continue to work with, and support the Sheriff's Department, to make sure the jail remains open and is run constitutionally.
Budgeting remains a constant priority! With continued cuts coming from both the state and federal government, constant vigilance of county finances remain at the top of the list! All departments and elected offices in the county will have to continue to do more with less!!
Continue to look at more innovative ways of streamlining functions of county government, and departments! Regional collaboration remains part of the equation - Port Authority needs to take a more active role in economic development!
Continue to aggressively pursue matching grant dollars for various sanitary sewer infrastructure projects (ex, Struthers South Interceptor Improvement Project, Phase 1 and Phase 2).
Continue to locate additional county offices into the Oakhill Renaissance Center, making it a true one-stop for county government!
Make sure that the new county software program, E Justice, is fully implemented for its chosen users.
Must immediately address the deteriorating structural conditions of the County Courthouse!
Update equipment in the 911 Call Center!
|Qualifications||Serving as County Commissioner for almost two full terms, I have gained invaluable insight, and knowledge of the inner workings of county government, which include, but are not limited to, the following: Balancing budgets in some volatile financial times; working with all facets of the criminal justice system, jail, and the courts, as well as employee relations, and labor negotiations, etc. Moreover, I have the passion and the desire to continue to be an aggressive leader for the people of Mahoning County!! NEVER once, has my integrity been called into question while I have been in office!|
