I thoroughly enjoy appellate work. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney I volunteered to handled appeals for other AUSAs. Some attorneys do no like appellate work. I enjoy legal research and writing. I believe I can do a substantially better job than my opponent. I ran in 2 prior races for this office.
Appellate Judge, U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals; U.S. Administrative Law Judge; Senior Administrative Law Judge, Office of the Chief Administrative Law Judge; acting Judge, Municipal Court; teaching Akron and CSU law schools, Notre Dame College & Lakelnad Community College; demonstrated legal writing skills, law school publications at Harvard, Case, Columbia, Vanderbilt, Georgetown etc. Bar association & related publication: Lake, Geauga, Trumbull, Cleveland, American Bar Association (The Business Lawyer), Judicature (American Judicature Society), education and military publications. Other varied legal experience that will enhance my background and enable me to hit the ground running as a newly elected appellate judge. Akron Law School honored me with the John R. Quine Adjunct Faculty Award.
My experience. The reputation of the court has diminished with the departure of Judges Ford and Nader. It seems that quite a few decisions have been overturned. I believe that my experience will enable me to improve the performance of the court.
Improving the quality of the court's decisions and opinions. Speeding the decision making process without diminishing time needed. Enhanced use of technology, hard work, and programs such as mediation.
