Boardman Township Trustee

Offices previously held:

Boardman Township Trustee, 1-2006 to 12-31-09

Robyn's reasons for seeking office:

I am seeking re-election so that I can finish the work that I have begun in Boardman. We have, for the first time in Boardman's history, a written Strategic Plan. It had input from all departments and is being constantly examined. It will provide our roadmap so we can turn our situation around for the better. I believe that, unlike a new candidate, my learning curve has now leveled off and I fully understand the process, the 6 labor contracts, and the climate and history at the Township.

Robyn's qualifications:

My training and practice as an attorney allows me to use my analytical abilities and stay issue-focused. Some tough decisions have to be made and I believe they are better made by being rational, not emotional. My 4 years as an incumbent have allowed me to see and understand the actual interaction of all elected officials, departments, labor unions, and the public. I have learned that in order to get things done, we must act as a team. I sit on community Boards and I know how a Board operates and functions. But I know these changes cannot occur overnight.

Where Robyn stands on the issues:

The budget needs constant work. I am committed to continue the change in the spending pattern that had existed in the past where the budget deficit was made up by using Estate Tax. I am happy to say that the budget deficit has been cut in half since I took office. I look forward to carrying out the priorities that have been stated in the Strategic Plan: to build up our safety forces; to stop relying on the Estate Tax revenue that had been done by previous Boards; and to continue to streamline and get labor contracts more consistent with each other. The theme is to get all we can from tax dollars because everything counts.

Robyn's priorities if elected:

Even though we receive less money in property taxes due to a higher foreclosure rate and less revenue from the state that also funds Townships, I am committed to stretch levy dollars so more police and fire personnel can be hired. This will be accomplished by working collaboratively and creatively with all employees and unions and elected officials.
