Bob Dean

From:

Warren, OH

Office Sought:

Warren City Councilmember-at-Large

Bob's reasons for seeking office:

Having served as a Senior Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, Director Citizen Assistance office of the Mayor City of Houston and Contract Compliance/Security Manager for the Cleveland Port Authority, I am fully prepared. Having served on the Ohio Veterans Nursing Home Board (3 months as Chairman of the Board with full responsibility for overseeing a $90 million dollar annual budget) I have dedicated myself to serve. My efforts while serving as council member reflect both short and long range initiatives and many in between. Beginning the day I was sworn in I began riding along with Warren Patrolmen on all shifts. I have amassed more than 4,000 hours riding along on day, afternoon and midnight shifts. As a volunteer I provided a 2 hour block of formal diversity training to all Warren police department personnel including the Chief. As a "Committee of One" I brought the idea of creating a Economic Development Division at our Western Reserve Port Authority. Following meetings with Commissioners, Port representatives from Toledo, Cleveland and Summit County, I successfully brought Congressman Ryan to the table to champion the project. Within the next few days you will cover the announcement of the newly hired Director (coincidentally a former colleague of mine from the Cleveland Port Authority) for the Western Reserve Port Authority. I am the only council member who serves on the Main Street Warren Board of Directors, Trumbull County Habitat Board for Humanity, and the United Methodist Community Center Board. On September 25th I will be recognized by the Youngstown Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for "Distinguished Political Awareness and Involvement" My contributions in sponsored legislation range from Blight and Nuisance Eradication to Noise Ordinance to defacing of safety control signage. The greatest contribution for me has been the Annual Bob Dean Coats For Kids Giveaway." This December weak-long with a cadre of volunteers assisting we will have given away over ten thousand coats to inner city children during the past ten years. Hopefully the reason I am seeking re-election is clear, I enjoy the position both at the Council table and in the community, and at the state level. My focus is both short term and long range. Finally, in 2004 I was elected to the Warren City Schools Hall of Fame. This town, this community and these folks have been the wind beneath my wings and I owe every ounce of energy I can muster to display my absolute gratitude.

Where Bob stands on the issues:

Safety of every Warren citizen as well as full support for our Safety Service Forces. My support is evident and known by each man and woman assigned to the Warren Police Department. Seeking avenues for jobs and future businesses long and short range. I will support the newly appointed Western Reserve Port Economic Development Director every step of the way.
