Austintown Township, OH
Austintown Township Trustee
Austintown Township Trustee 1994 to present
I am seeking reelection because I believe that in today's economy it is important to have someone with the experience, education, and a proven track record to deal with the Township budget, contract negotiations, and rising health care costs, facing local communities. My knowledge of, pride in, and love for, Austintown, is why I am seeking reelection.
I have successfully managed a multi-million dollar Sales Division in the private sector, as well as negotiated dozens of contracts. I have balanced the Township budget for 16 years and passed the scrutiny of annual state audits. We have increased the safety of our community annually, and I have helped to bring more grant dollars back to Austintown than any other Township in Mahoning County. I have helped to develop the Enterprise Zone in Austintown that has brought in millions of dollars of new growth, and hundreds of new jobs. My experience in working with state, and local government, and bringing labor, and private sectors together to help our community has been evident.
The major issue for local governments remain the state budget reductions we face. This will make it imperative that we continue to bring more of our tax dollars back to our community. This will also make it extremely important that we continue to do more with less; while maintaining the safety of our community, and the integrity of our neighborhoods. We must work hard to reduce costs while not placing large tax burdens on the community, which is growing increasingly more retirees on a fixed income. lt's also extremely important that we continue to do more with less; while maintaining the safety of our community, and the integrity of our neighborhoods.
My top priority will be to look for ways to save the taxpayers dollars, while maintaining the level of services provided to the community; I currently sit on the Metro Leaders Roundtable, and our focus is to promote and establish regionalization efforts in cost sharing. Austintown has joined NEOSO, and State Cooperative Purchasing programs, to save tax dollars. We have formed a Regional Water District with Boardman and Canfield, and are currently working on Dispatch, 911, and Fire District, regionalization efforts, to benefit Austintown.
