Boardman Township, OH

Office Sought:

Boardman Township Trustee

Brad's reasons for seeking office:

I seeking the office of trustee in Boardman Township for the following reasons: To bring back a board that can work together for the common good of the community, to bring accountability to the residents dealing with the budget, to restore morale within the departments of the township. This is more than an election; it’s about the future of Boardman Township. We need new leadership that can and will unite and move Boardman Township forward.

Brad's qualifications:

Past president of the Boardman Education Association, contract negotiator for the teachers association, worked cooperatively with the Board of Education and administration on the five year forecast of the school budget, working daily with members of the community, participating with community events. I bring to the table a willingness to work hard and make the community proud of their leadership. I am a proven leader and will move Boardman forward. Assistant Manager (Seasonally) at Phantom Fireworks – I coordinate hiring, scheduling and maintain the finances of the showroom. This election is about my family and those who live and work in Boardman Township.

Where Brad stands on the issues:

The major issues: Restoring to the community a Board of Trustees that will work together, bring the police department back to a level our community demands, maintain three fire stations, living within a budget, dealing with traffic and flooding concerns, placing the right people in positions of authority and those who work daily with the members of our community, work with other government bodies to secure savings for all.

Brad's priorities if elected:

1. Increase police protection! As I walk door to door, residents want what was promised by the current trustees, more police officers! 2. Maintain three fire stations for the safety of residents and visitors of the township. 3. Negotiate contracts our community can afford. 4. Have the board earn the respect of the community.

Boardman Trustees (2009)

Remember voters, Brad Calhoun was head of the teachers union and now he wants to be Boardman trustee and tell the unions concessions must be provided??? Are we that naive to believe that he would be anything but union friendly and give away what's left of the Boardman store! Also remember that when I pointed out his ratings on ratemyteacher.com and believe me they were dismal, he had them removed that very same day! Do we want a censorship promoter who can't take the heat of a few 8th graders? What will he do when the real heat of trustee comes to fruition? Don't buy the lies told to you by a major supporter, Tugboat, a former union retired Boardman employee.

Don't be fooled people. Don't let the power brokers control Boardman.

Apollo: Who do you suggest instead? Remember, we can choose two. I may consider Groover. S/he has signs everywhere.

What a wimp to remove his name from a blog the kids do. I just looked at it and about 240 other Boardman teachers are on it, and so are all the other schools in the area. Question - what was so bad about student comments about Calhoun?

Other than Miller, I'm looking at Rosati. He has some good ideas that he and I have been hashing out on the Vindy website.

See some of it here.

The fact that Boardman employees are against him should tell taxpayers he'd be good. (or at least good at making promises to address spending)

countyscoop is correct. Calhoun should not be so concerned with 8th graders ratings of him. Some were good and some weren't so flattering. The fact that he saw fit to have it removed shows what kind of trustee he'd be. One who doesn't like transparency. We don't need more opaque (censored) government.
