I spent a week of this summer teaching Vacation Bible School for second graders at Highway Tabernacle church on Kirk & Raccoon Rd. . On the last day of VBS, the kids took part in "sliming" me as part of their reward for having made the highest donation. As the kids gleefully poured the cold, green, sticky slime on me, it didn't help that the youth Pastor Lou Scalzo sneeked in and took the hood of my cape off. I was soaked! Normally we would vacation at the beach in July. As Katie was born in May and would be too young for a trip to the ocean, we decided to stay at home in Greenford. Katie, however, enjoyed vacationing in the backyard at Grandma and Grandpa’s home in Greenford. Grandpa and Grandma are Richard and Dorothy Conkle of Pine Lake Road.
