Pavlik Pounds Lockett

June 7, 2008. Kelly Pavlik, the humble hero of Youngstown, defended his middleweight title against Welshman Gary Lockett in Atlantic City, N.J. Pavlik stunned Lockett in the opening round Saturday night, dropped him to a knee twice in the second and by the third round Lockett's corner had thrown in the towel.

Gary and Ruth Nilsson of Austintown outside Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City waiting for start of the Pavlik fight Saturday. They came to Atlantic City on a bus trip with a large group of fans from the Mahoning Valley. This was Gary's gift to Ruth for her 60 th birthday which was Thursday.
