SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Poland Rotary with Poland Junior Women’s League have been preparing luminaries for the Lighting of the Village at 4 p.m. Dec. 7. Above, from left, are Holly Fritz, Dan Madden, Chris Cruciger, Maryann Carano, Shellie Duchek and Brandon Davis. The luminaries will be lighted along Route 170 from Poland Town Hall to Peterson Park. The lighting of the village tree, free and open to the public, will take place at 5:30 p.m. featuring carols, cookies and cocoa, horse-drawn carriage rides and Santa’s arrival. Children will have an opportunity to talk to Santa. Make donations payable to Poland Junior Women’s Club, in care of Carolyn Fender, 8651 Hilltop Drive, Poland, OH 44514. SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St., Niles, will transform its 14 rooms to show the beauty of the season and will be open for tours from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 1. A new private collection of angels will be displayed on the first floor. Old Christmas cards and postcards also will be on display. A donation of $5 is requested, and children 10 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
