SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Lake Post 737 Legion Riders visited Jefferson Eagles Aerie 3881 Nov. 14 to accept a donation of $525 for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund. A plaque was presented for their donation. The Riders have collected over $6,433 this year and total contributions since 2007 are $30,430. The scholarship fund provides aid for children who lost a parent since Sept. 11, 2001, in service to our country. The Girard Historical Society operates the house and will host a Christmas Open House with refreshments, music and an estate decorated with many trees. This year’s theme, A Beary, Dolly Christmas, features a variety of bears and dolls. Open houses begin Saturday and Sunday and run every weekend from 1 to 5 p.m. until Dec. 15. He offered a glimpse of colonial history in Hancock’s persona. An actor in the stage play “1776,” Johnson also has written two fictional historical books about colonial days: “Snug Harbor Tavern” and “Seeds of Love — and War.” A former Navy aviator, Johnson lives in Youngstown and gives seminars nationwide. Supported by a group of family and friends, the Sharon High football team walks out onto the field Sunday for their first practice since Friday’s auto accident that claimed the lives of two teammates and left two more hospitalized. The tragedy came a day before the Tigers were to face Girard (Pa.) in Round 1 of the PIAA playoffs, which will be played tonight in Erie. Players will wear stickers with “C.S.” and “E.G.” on their helmets to honor teammates Corey Swartz and Evan Gill, who were killed.

Dan Gonder of Boardman: "I have had a beard off and on since I was able to grow one, this one for 10 years and decided to keep it when it came in gray. I thought it looked like Richard Dreyfus in "Jaws" or the real Captain Phillips. I have had the moustache since my senior year at Kennedy Catholic High School. The beard really helped because just the moustache looked too '70s, too Tony Orlando, and too much like the 1971 Oakland A's."

This is a picture of Jesse Strickland taken at the Boardman Relay for Life 2013. Jesse was an Infantryman with the 1-41 out of Fort Bliss, and is an Afghanistan combat veteran. He could come home for visits only a few times a year. His sister, Chary Hively, has gotten involved with the Relay for Life over the years. The running joke between them was that he would be her Miss Relay entry when he got out of the service. He came home late in 2012, and for this year's Relay for Life he kept that promise to his sister.
