SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Friends of Beaver Creek State Park Pioneer Village, 12021 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, have published the village’s own cookbook including a history. The village was conceived by Columbiana Council of Forests and Parks and built in the 1960s. The history includes the period it represents, 1790 to 1830. From left to right are some of the Friends, Deborah Sciance of Toronto, Ohio; Karen Russo of East Liverpool; and Evelyn Koch of Rogers. The book includes both black and white and color views of the village and 300 pioneer and modern recipes. Included are recipes from noted local residents as well as some from first ladies Martha Washington and Michelle Obama, TV journalist Deborah Norville, and local TV and newspaper reporters. The book sells for $10, and is available when Pioneer Village is open for special events and weekends May 4 through mid-October. Special to The Vindicator Attending the 2013 annual Charity Ball sponsored by Sharon Regional Health System’s Auxiliary were Dr. John Ambrosino, second from left, and his wife, Kristin; and John R. Janoso Jr., Sharon Regional president and CEO and his wife, Dina. The event took place April 13 at Avalon Golf and Country Club in Buhl Park, Hermitage. The auxiliary will present proceeds from the ball to Sharon Regional representatives at a luncheon in May. The money will be used to buy a $230,000 digital imaging system for use in vascular, general, orthopedic and urological surgery.

Alexis Rae Pryor, formerly Alexis Rae Blasko, is a registered nurse, having worked the last 10 years in the pediatrics oncology department at Healthpark Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla. Her mother, Stephanie Blasko of Fort Myers, says Alexis was born and raised in the Youngstown area and graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1998, after which they moved to Florida. "She is a dedicated and skilled nurse, who has touched so many lives with her kindness," Stephanie writes. "By choosing nursing as her profession, she is able to share those special attributes with the larger community."
