SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Mahoning County Junior Fair Board attended a Junior Fair Conference in Columbus in January. At the February and March meetings guest speakers were Dave Kohout and Judge Theresa Dellick. Officers recently elected, from left, are Mikayla Hahn and Meghan Svetlak, news reporters; Jenna Styka, secretary; Greta Frost, president; Levi Smith, vice president; and Sam Kulifay, assistant secretary. They are planning a trunk sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 1 at Canfield Fairgrounds. To reserve a spot call 330-506-6521. The cost is $25. The next junior fair board meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Inn, Canfield Fairgrounds.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR West Side Cats is preparing for its second annual motorcycle poker run July 21 at Austintown Park. Dave Childers sits on his bike with Smoochie, one of many rescued cats and kittens. Vendors who sell motorcycle-related items, pet-related items, crafts, art and more are needed. Vendors will pay $15 for each 10-by-10-foot space. Donations are being sought for new items and gift cards for gift baskets that will be raffled at the event. Three bands will perform, baskets will be auctioned, and there will be a 50-50 raffle. Food also will be available. Space fees and small items may be dropped off at the shelter during adoption hours from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays. For information call 330-519-5002.
