SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Austinwood Nursing Facility in Austintown was the location of the 103rd birthday party for Pearl Walters, seated, who was born March 26, 1910. Wearing a tiara and purple studded dress, Walters was presented with a proclamation from Austintown elected officials. From left they are the Rev. Rick Stauffer and Lisa Oles, trustees; Laurie Wolfe, fiscal officer; and Jim Davis, trustee. She has six children, 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She played the harmonica and piano. Her favorite color is pink, her favorite holiday is Easter and her favorite song is “When the Work Is All Done This Fall.”

Demolition of the former Paramount Theatre on West Federal Street in downtown Youngstown will begin in May and take about four months to complete. In its heyday in the 1940s and 1950s, the theater was one of about 10 downtown cinemas.

Pavlansky will play tennis for the Midshipmen. A four-time most valuable player for the Cardinals, she is the reigning two-time All-American Conference player of the year and helped the Cardinals to four consecutive American Division crowns.
