SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Snappy, a turtle so dubbed by Benjamin Oddis of Boardman, above, came out of his shell to make a new pal. Judging by the look on Benjamin’s face, it made his day. On Sunday, the boy and his parents, Kris and Will Oddis, had found Snappy roaming on Trailwood Drive. Neighbors joined in and helped get him off the road and eventually into a box, which the Oddis family took home. Benjamin cared for the snapping turtle by spraying him with water from a squirt bottle. The family released him near a creek on their property, and to their delight, Snappy made himself at home by burrowing into the cool mud.
