SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Kiwanis Club of Youngstown awarded scholarships July 12 to six college-bound students from the area. Each received $500. Five will attend Youngstown State University, and all earned grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Financial need also was a consideration. Winners, from left, were Marina Bermann of Ursuline High School, Megan Christ of Chaney STEM/VPA, LaTieya Richard of Cardinal Mooney, LaJuan Thomas of East, Allie Klumpp of Youngstown Christian (accepted by her mother), and Travis Filicky of Boardman. Tom Eisenbraun, Kiwanis member and chairman of the scholarship committee is at the far right, and in the background is Gary Winslow, Kiwanis president.
