For more than 50 years the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce has recognized individuals, groups and businesses with awards for making a positive difference in the community. Sponsors for the Feb. 24 awards banquet include, in front from left, Chris Davis of Sitler the Printer; Ellen Witmer-Bowman of Das Dutch Village Inn; and Dr. Richelle Keleman of Columbiana Medical Center. Austintown Trustees recently participated in a Celebrity Bartending fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings in Austintown. The trustees raised more than $350 in tips in two hours as bartenders. Shown from left are trustees Jim Davis and Lisa Oles and newly elected Mahoning County Commissioner David Ditzler. Other elected officials who participated were Jerry Green, Mahoning County sheriff; Mike Sciortino, Mahoning County auditor; and John McNally, Mahoning County commissioner. Proceeds will benefit 75 Austintown families in need, and one family will receive a shopping spree at Walmart.

Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will host a new membership open house with a ladies social at 6 p.m. Monday at Glenellen, 9661 Market St., Boardman. This has been a tradition in Mahoning County since 1979. New officers for 2013 are, from left, Sperry Rongone, president of Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League; Corky Nosek, GFWC Ohio state president; Linda Crish, GFWC Ohio director of junior clubs; and Yvonne Ford, GFWC Ohio assistant director of junior clubs. The club promotes friendship and volunteering to benefit worthwhile causes. Those interested in joining or learning about the organization may call Ford 330-718-2013 or 330-755-6828.
