Angels for Animals is sponsoring its annual antiques, collectibles and jewelry sale at the shelter, 4750 W. South Range Road (Route 165) in Canfield. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 on Friday and includes refreshments and buyers’ first choice. Admission is free Saturday and Sunday.

Penguin Place, which was the home of former Youngstown State University President Les Cochran and his wife, Lin, is going up for auction. The two-story, 11,400-square-foot building includes office space with an area on the second floor that could be used as a residence.
A chase for a man who robbed a pizza shop with a knife ended with the accused burglar wrapping his truck around a telephone pole on Market Street just past Withers Drive in Boardman. The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the Tuesday afternoon incident.
Richard J. Billak, founder and CEO of the Community Corrections Association Inc. for nearly 40 years, reminisces about his career. Billak retires Dec. 31.
The basketball court at Canfield Village Middle School is dedicated to Ken Reel, a longtime teacher and coach who died of cancer in June. A game between the Canfield and Hubbard girls teams tipped off after Tuesday’s ceremony.
Braceville native Ted Toles talks about his storied baseball career, which took him from the sandlots of Warren, to the New Castle Indians, through the minor leagues, and eventually into Negro League history, where he remains one of just a handful of players who can still make that claim. Toles, who resides in Warren, celebrates his 88th birthday today.
Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio’s connections to Ohio and Ohio State run deep. Dantonio, a Zanesville native, is adamant that there is no lingering animosity between him and the coaching staff at OSU, where he once coached under Jim Tressel. He also was one of Tressel’s assistant coaches at Youngstown State.
