SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Lt. Charles W. Brown Jr. VFW Post 9947 in Cornersburg met at Brandywine Clubhouse on Veterans Day and signed Christmas cards for Operation Holiday Cheer. Details of The Vindicator program are at right. Post Commander Barry Landgraver encourages those from civic, church or veterans groups to consider sending cards to our troops at various holidays to encourage them and thank them for their service. Michael Hingson, who is blind, was evacuated by his guide dog, Roselle, from the 78th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower on Sept. 11, 2001. Hingson will discuss his escape at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Poland public library, 311 S. Main St.

Aaron Chine, owner of Chinebox Ink on Mahoning Avenue, is the painter of murals at the Austintown schools. The murals depict falcons in various stages at each of the district’s four schools. Chine, a Fitch High graduate, says he has always been into art and works with all forms.
