SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Austintown Historical Society is sponsoring its 23rd Spring Tea on April 21 at the Strock Stone House, 7171 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. Enjoying a cup of tea while making plans are, from left, Rae Jeanne Mollica, Marge Goldner and Joyce Pogany. Seatings will be at noon, 2 and 4 p.m., and the menu will include coffees and teas, finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and items of a traditional high tea. Tickets are $14 per person and $7 for children under 12; reservations are required by Friday. Make checks payable to Austintown Historical Society, and mail to 1181 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, OH 44515, or call Pogany at 330-792-1129. There will be a basket raffle; winners do not need to be present to win. Free tours of the stone house will be conducted after each seating.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Boardman Lions Club will extend its eyeglass collection effort through a partnership with the Lordstown General Motors Plant, placing five collection boxes inside through the efforts of United Auto Workers Local 1714 President Dave Green, also a Boardman Lion. The boxes are located at Lordstown’s main entrances and at the safety department. More than 1,750 pairs of glasses have been collected by the club since September to be redistributed through LensCrafters to those in need. Green, left, gave a tour of the plant to Lion members Betsy Koch, Henry Koch, Patti Shears, Terri Wilkes and Ron Paris.
