Austintown Optimist Club is sponsoring a wine taste from 7 to 10 p.m. May 3 at Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Holding an advertisement are club members Dick and Nancy Stoy. There will be wine, food and entertainment. Door prizes, a basket auction and a 50-50 raffle also will be available. The cost is $35 per person and tickets can be purchased before the event or at the door. For tickets call 330-793-2384.

The annual basket auction for Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will be from 12:30 to 4 p.m. April 28 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield. Members showing sample gifts are, from left, Judy Codespote, Jackie Fischio, Kathy Novak and Marilyn Abramski. Doors will open at 12:30 with drawings starting at 3. Ticket holders are entitled to free refreshments. There will be gifts for children, men and women and special raffles of items greater than $25. The donation for a ticket is $5 and can be purchased at the door. Call Codespote at 330-502-9413 for tickets before the event. All proceeds will go to the education fund, which sponsors youth  attending Youngstown State, Kent State and John Carroll universities.
