Ohio Star Quilters, dedicated to educating the public in the art of quilting and teaching the basic principles of quilting to children, met recently to honor their student quilters. Student quilters must be 8 to 12 years old. Supplies are donated to each child from the club. Finished quilts were presented by 14 students and are shown, in front, Douglas Gurdak, left, Michael McKenzie, Elizabeth Brumbaugh, Alless O’Malley, Chloe Camacho and in back, Brianna Nolen, Paige Kristo, Abigail Martin, Natalie Walk, Sarah DeSalvo, Marissa Martin, Samantha Mehle, Jasmine Camacho and Kayla Mehle. The club meets 9:30 a.m. to noon on the first and third Wednesday of each month. For information call Howland S.C.O.P.E. at 330-609-7806.

Members of the Interact Club at Austintown Fitch High School spent Nov. 10 at Salem Community Center with Interact members from 13 area schools. Shown are Gary Reel, left, co-adviser, Amanda Choma, Megan Miller, Jaclynn Choma, Sierra DuBois, Kamisha Parker and Justin Shaughnessy. More than 100 students and advisers met for the annual event that stresses community and world service ideas, exchange student opportunities and cooperation with local Rotary Clubs. Schools represented were Harding, Canfield, Columbiana, East Palestine, Salem, Howland, Struthers and others from the Canton area. The Austintown Club was founded in 1995 and advisers are Tina Kubacki and Reel.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will host its monthly spaghetti dinner and a holiday concert with the 50-member Seraphim Chorus on Dec. 2. The dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church social hall and consists of the main entree, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 8 and younger. Carryouts are available and containers will be provided. For dinner information, call the church office at 330-743-1109. Kris Harper will direct the chorus with holiday music at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Soloists will include Andrew Lawlor, baritone from Leetonia, and Kiyan Taghaboni, tenor and vocal performance major from Dana School of Music. Offerings will be accepted.
