At the recent November meeting of Rotary Club of Youngstown a Veterans Day program was conducted. The Rotary International motto is “Service Above Self” and those who have served our country have modeled this motto. They continue to serve the community through Rotary. Rotarian veterans honored for their service were from left, Bill Russell, U.S. Navy; Jim Jarvis, U.S. Army; Walter DeBald, U.S. Air Force; Frank Kishel, U.S. Army; Dr. Robert Edwards, U.S. Air Force; John Fahnert, Tom Carney and Rand Becker, U.S. Army; Dr. Milt Lenhart, U.S. Navy; and Bill Petro, U.S. Army. Absent were Reid Schmutz, Ohio National Guard, and Dr. Robert Gilliland, U.S. Marine Corps.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies AOH-Golden Rose of Ireland Division recently sponsored a spaghetti dinner at St. Columba Cathedral hall to benefit the capital campaign for the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Mahoning County. The event raised $1,892. The check was presented at the St. Vincent de Paul dining hall during a recent meeting. Pictured are, from left, Brian J. From left, Joe Kerola, president and CEO of P.I.&I. Motor Express, his wife, Pam Kerola, and Army Lt. Col. David P. Barlet, commander of U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion in Cleveland, finalized a partnership between the trucking business and the Army on Thursday. The agreement will allow preferential hiring for veterans interested in working for the company.
