Boardman Lions Club recently made a $500 donation to the Boardman Center Middle School PANDA organization. From left to right are Terry Shears, Boardman Lions president; Mindy DePietro, Boardman Center Middle School counselor; Beth Bonish, PANDA coordinator; Bobby Morren and Madeline Kvasnasky, eighth-grade PANDA leaders; and Kris Dailey, Boardman Lions board member. PANDA, which stands for Prevent and Neutralize Drug and Alcohol Abuse, is no longer funded through the state. It is a program of Meridian Community Care that encourages responsible decisions about bullying, depression, violence, self-esteem and other issues and it meets every other Wednesday at the school.
