Howland’s Taylor Williams (24) and Canfield’s Sabrina Mangapora earned All-Ohio basketball honors on Monday. Mangapora was named to the first team in Division II, and Williams was selected to the second team in Division I. Nine area players received honors.
Springfield basketball seniors Ryan Stacy, left, and Tommy Mastran were in third grade the last time the Tigers won a district title. They will try to help the Tigers defeat Bedford Chanel in Wednesday’s Division III regional final at the Canton Fieldhouse.

Emilia Aaey and Gabriella Elsay, both fourth-graders at Hilltop Elementary in Canfield, play with a mixture of corn starch and water during a science day at school. The kids were asked to predict whether the mixture, which they called “Oobeck,” would bounce more on the speaker if the frequency was turned up high or down low.

Brian Tidings, a worker with the Mahoning County Engineer’s office, tries to keep up with spring tasks by filling potholes with cold patch on Mahoning Avenue in North Jackson. County engineer employees have been busy fi lling potholes instead of plowing snow and salting roads, thanks to a mild winter season.
