The Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance presented a check for $4,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley BackPack program during a luncheon May 29 at the Upstairs Restaurant in Austintown. The proceeds came from the alliance’s Annual Charity Fashion show in February. The BackPack program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Backpacks are filled with child-friendly, nonperishable, easily consumed, vitamin-fortified food. Second Harvest Food Bank serves more than 375 children in the program.
