Actress and author Carol Weakland, left, and Tony Cebriak discuss her recent presentation of “The Cricket on the Hearth,” a lesser-known Christmas tale by Charles Dickens, to the Austintown Friends of the Library. The next Friends’ meeting will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 23 at the library, one week later than usual due to the Martin Luther King Day closing. The speaker will be Loretta Ekoniak, who will share information on the Slovak heritage in the Mahoning Valley. Meetings are open to the public and refreshments will be served.
