Demechko is the district president of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association of Beachwood, Ohio, a nonprofit financial benefit society. The dining hall serves more than 90,000 meals annually and its food pantry distributes food to 8,500 people. It also distributes 100 sack lunches daily to after-school “latchkey” students from area schools. The FCSLA distributed $1,000,000 in donations at its October convention in Baltimore.

Rotary’s Reverse Raffle: The Rotary Club of Austintown will have its annual Reverse Raffle March 10 at the Maronite Center, and members are preparing for this major fundraiser. The club sponsors a number of local, national and international projects to serve the community. Local projects include Woodside Reads literacy tutors, library book purchase programs, dictionaries for all third-graders in Austintown and Jackson Milton, scholarships for Fitch High School students and support of Fitch Interact Club. The evening fundraiser will feature dinner, cocktails, a money raffle, dancing, and basket auction. Tickets cost $150 per couple. Here, four members gear up for their sales.
