The Rotary Club of Austintown presented landscaper Jack Kumik of AABCO Landscape, center, with a plaque in appreciation for his help preparing the foundation for the Rotary memory bench placed at the Celebration Grove at Austintown Township Park. Also shown are Tony Cebriak, left, chairman of the park project, and Ron Carroll, Rotary president. Kumik aided the club in establishing the grove and continues helping with maintenance at the park.

Howard Friend discussed World War II literature with Sue Hawkins Bell. The Poland resident and educator shared details of his military service at the December meeting of the Austintown Friends of the Library. The presentation “War is the Rage of Hell” outlined Friend’s experience as an infantry machine-gun runner during the Battle of the Bulge. Bell will discuss “A Journey from Somerset, England to Ohio” at the next meeting, 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road.
