Streeky, left, was installed as the district education officer of the 19th District of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio. Ten students from Marcia Duko’s eighth-grade class from Leetonia Schools, who read “The Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens recently, attended “A Dickens of a Good Time” and joined in the caroling, dancing and dramatic reading along with 23 other guests at Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St. Ebenezer Scrooge is portrayed by Paul Rohrbaugh, left, and the ghost of Christmas future is portrayed by Irena Harvey, who is pointing to Scrooge’s grave. Cardinal Mooney High School students celebrated of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of Americas, on Dec. 13 with a Spanish Mass in the chapel led by the Rev. Gerald DeLucia, president of the school. Students sang “Las Mananitas” in honor of the Virgin Mary accompanied with a Spanish choir and offered roses. Father DeLucia explained to students in his bilingual sermon the events surrounding the Legend of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which originated Dec. 12, 1531, in Mexico. MYCAP, 1325 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, won first place in a statewide photo contest held on Facebook and open to all Community Action Agencies across Ohio. MYCAP received 273 votes to take the top honor, while Community Action of Columbiana was second with 245 votes. Fifty photos were submitted.
