The Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. met recently for its annual Hats Off to Seniors luncheon at McGuffey Center, 1649 Jacobs Road, Youngstown. A free lunch for seniors 70 and older was provided to the community. Those attending played bingo, and door prizes were awarded. There also was a hat parade; the winner was Mary Adams, second from left. She is shown with Joy Perry, left, and Pat McKinney and Pauline Mitchell. Mary McLeod Bethune founded the NCNW in 1935. The organization seeks to improve the quality of life for women and their communities with a major focus on literacy. President of the Youngstown section is Yvonne Wilson.
