Police and Youngstown City Schools officials are investigating a one-vehicle school bus accident on the West Side on Monday afternoon. No children were on the bus marked “67” when the bus went over an embankment at about 2:30 p.m. and hit a tree just above Interstate 680 near Wellington and Maryland avenues. Winnie Timpson, chief of transportation for the schools, said the driver hit the curb and then panicked, hitting the gas and going over the embankment. The female driver was not injured in the accident.
