Ready for the record hop: Sisters D'Ella, Mille and Sophie Heschmeyer of Liberty celebrated the 50th day of school when Akiva Academy in Youngstown had a '50s day. The girls donned their best 1950s outfits for the occasion as students and teachers dressed in poodle skirts, rolled up jeans, slicked-back hair and leather jackets. They even listened to music on what the kids described as "weird dishes" — vinyl LPs. The whole elementary school learned about the culture of the 1950s era and enjoyed pizza and root beer floats for lunch.
