State Route 46 culvert, resurfacing work forces detour State Route 46 on the border of Mahoning and Trumbull counties near Mineral Ridge will be closed for two to three weeks during the installation of a replacement culvert over the Mahoning River. This photograph was taken looking north at the work area. The $1.1 million Ohio Department of Transportation project also involves resurfacing the roadway to the southern Niles city limits.

The gift of gardening: Phil Steiner, a radio talk-show host, gives gardening tips at a recent meeting of Trumbull Retired Teachers Association. The next meeting of the association will be at noon June 14 at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St., Niles. Ten students from nine Trumbull County public schools will be introduced as the 2011 TRTA scholarship recipients. The scholarship committee was Joyce Faiver, Una Ford and Ruby Hawkins.
