Boardman Township firefighters and police, together with deputies from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a one-vehicle crash on Shields Road, just west of Sheban Drive, that sent the two female occupants to the hospital. Fire Chief George Brown said the department received the call at 12:43 p.m. Friday and sent all personnel to extricate the women. “We had seven firefighters on the scene, counting me,” Brown said. “We completed the extraction, and Clemente [ambulance service] transported them to St. Elizabeth Health Center for the trauma center.” A portion of Shields Road was closed for a short time because of the accident.
