James Hummer plays the trombone for the Rev. Dr. Bradley Pace, rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Youngstown. In the brass ensemble, Hummer has participated in all 50 years of the Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival. The Rev. Dr. Pace, who became rector at St. John’s last summer, will be a first-time pageant participant at the Sunday event.

While they were away on Tuesday afternoon, a vehicle being driven by a Youngstown man who had just been shot in the chest drove through the front of the house and nearly out the back. The one-story house might be a total loss, but they can only imagine the tragedy that would have occurred if they and their two small children had been home. Behind them to the right is where the home office and computer desk was. To the left was the bathroom and hallway.
