A member of the police force for 24 years, Toth has spent the past 11 years as a full time D.A.R.E. officer. His focus is to alert youngsters to the dangers of using drugs. He reported that heroin is a major problem because users are hooked for life. He noted that prescription drugs, alcohol and marijuana are all concerns and that the Internet is exposing youngsters to other risky issues. Toth handles Crime Watch neighborhood units and his tip line at 330-270-5108 offers a place to leave an anonymous tip on crimes. He summed up his talk by stressing the need for vigilance in all neighborhoods. He was commended by Austintown Schools Superintendent Vince Colaluca for the Safety Town program he runs in the summer for kindergarten-age children.
