Roberta Lawrentz, center, of Girard Junior Womens League, presents donations to Sister Midge, left, and Sister Marjorie of Emmanuel Care Center. The center is dedicated to providing for needy families in Girard. Four-hundred bags of food and IGA gift certificates were donated at Thanksgiving, and the center plans to give 600 gifts at Christmas to qualifying families. Girard Junior Women is a nonprofit group; new members are welcome.

Walter and Rhea Terlecky, second and third from left, were honored Dec. 15 at the Austintown Senior Center Christmas party. The couple donated the Westchester Building, where the Austintown Senior Center is currently housed, to Austintown Township in 1996. Their wishes were that the net proceeds from the lease of the building be used for parks and recreation in the township. Trumbull County Dog Warden Tony Frandanisa shows affection to a blind dog in one of the new outside cages at the Trumbull County Dog Kennel. The facility has improved its outdoor cages over the past year, and now it hopes to provide a fenced outdoor area where dogs can run and exercise.
Kelly Pavlik practices for a May bout with his former trainer Jack Loew. Late in 2011, Loew and Pavlik parted ways. Pavlik ended the year facing three charges, including operating a vehicle impaired.
