Children perform Christmas musical: Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road, Canfield, will be the setting for “ihope Christmas” starting at 6 p.m. Sunday. Krista Hosler will direct the musical that presents the Christmas message with both song and drama. Shown at rehearsal are some of the 35 children in the performance. The event is free, and refreshments will follow.

Three cheers for Hubbard students: Members of the Builders Club at St. Patrick School in Hubbard have adopted three soldiers this holiday season. The club is a service organization for junior high students who raise funds to help members of the community as well as fellow students. Club members selected servicemen listed in The Vindicator’s “Operation Holiday Cheer” section, choosing one each from Youngstown, Campbell and Hubbard, the three communities that send students to the school. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is helped off the field by a team trainer and backup quarterback Byron Leftwich after injuring his left ankle in the Steelers’ 14-3 win over Cleveland. Roethlisberger has not practiced since the injury, and no decision has been made as to whether he will play in Monday’s game against San Francisco.
