At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Austintown, members had a chance to meet and greet students from the 7th Annual Austintown-Boardman Hennef Exchange Program, which was started by Canfield Rotary member Sigliende Warren. Students from Austintown and Boardman visited their German friends in the spring, and the Thanksgiving season was chosen to give German students a chance to experience an American holiday. The visiting students stayed with host families from Austintown and Boardman for 11 days, speaking English, attending school and participating in activities planned by the student-host. They learned about the area and local traditions, and they discovered that movies don’t necessarily depict German and American society with accuracy.
