The Hubbard Optimist Club had its 57th annual oratorical contest recently, featuring the topic “If I were the leader of the world the first issue I would address would be. ...” Students wrote essays to finish the sentence. Above are two of the winners. Gabriella Hosack took first place among girls in eighth grade at St. Patrick School in Hubbard with her essay focusing on medical issues. Justin Oaks took first place among boys for his essay focusing on poverty issues. The two students will advance to regional competition in Springfield, Ohio.
