At a recent meeting of Youngstown Rotary Club, Irwin Stovroff spoke of a new program, “Veterans Helping Heroes,” and introduced two of the dogs involved in the program, at left, Jenny, a therapy dog, and Cash, a service dog. Stovroff, a World War II Prisoner of War and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and his partner, Jerry Kramer, established the Florida-based program to aid veterans who have been severely wounded in the global war on terrorism. The program provides assistance dogs that have been especially trained to give veterans mobility, independence and companionship. For more information on the program, visit www.VetsHelpingHeroes.org.
